The Kandahar Local Initiatives Program (KLIP) implements locally-directed projects in Kandahar province in support of the Government of Afghanistan's provision of core services, economic growth, humanitarian assistance, and general stabilization initiatives in priority districts. Projects selected for funding complement and reinforce Canada's priorities and signature projects in Kandahar. KLIP helps Canada achieve:

• Rapid and targeted responses to locally identified needs in Kandahar province, whose tangible results bolster support for long-term development and increase confidence in the government by the Kandahari population.
• Support to Canada’s priority in Afghanistan for governance, economic growth, education, health and humanitarian assistance.
