Maternal Health Initiative in Kandahar Province

As part of a multi-donor initiative led by UNICEF and the Afghan Ministry of Public
Health to reduce maternal mortality throughout the country, Canada’s contribution is supporting activities in the province of Kandahar. These activities include the following:

• Setting up a residential obstetric care facility.
  
  
• Providing maternal and neonatal health care training to healthcare workers.
  
  
• Delivering a safe motherhood information campaign.
