The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Infrastructure and Training in Kandahar project is implemented by Tearfund, a British-based non-governmental organization (NGO) specializing in disaster risk reduction, and funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Tearfund is one of the only international NGOs active in Kandahar province.
The project’s goal is to improve the ability of Loya Wala – a district in Kandahar City – as well as the provincial government, to prepare for, mitigate, and respond to disasters. The project benefitted 18,000 people in Loya Wala, and provided training to more than 40 government officials from southern Afghanistan.
