Appointment of Salahuddin Rabbani as High Peace Council Chair
Canada welcomes the appointment of Salahuddin Rabbani as the new chairman of Afghanistan's High Peace Council.
Canada fully endorses the objectives of the High Peace Council, in particular its efforts to engage Afghans in their country’s peace process and encourage the return of former insurgents who have renounced violence, severed all ties to Al-Qaeda, and support Afghanistan's Constitution.
Canada looks forward to supporting Afghanistan’s valuable efforts towards peace through the work of the High Peace Council.
