This episode looks at the physical and social changes Kandahar University has undergone in recent years. Enrolment has increased, more women are attending classes and faculties and spaces have undergone restructuring and repairs.
Canada’s contribution to Kandahar University through its Kandahar Local Initiatives Program (KLIP) makes up an important component of one of Canada’s six priorities focused on strengthening the Afghan government’s institutional capacity to deliver core services and promote economic growth.
Through KLIP, Canada has been able to fund similar projects in a variety of sectors including health, education, water and sanitation, agriculture and economic growth.
Canada has also committed to building, expanding and repairing 50 schools in key districts of Kandahar province as one of its three signature projects.
