Landmines in Afghanistan Video

Read the transcript or download the video.

Afghanistan is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world. This episode looks at Canada’s support towards clearance and disposal of landmines in Afghanistan, in collaboration with the United Nations Mine Action Service. These efforts make up an important component of Canada’s priority to help the Afghan government provide humanitarian assistance to Afghans. With Canadian support, Afghanistan has already seen a decline of 55% in the monthly number of mine victims. More than 1.3 billion square metres of land have been cleared, and 8.3 million Afghans have benefited from mine risk education activities.
