Improving health care in Afghanistan

Read the transcript or download the video.

More women in Afghanistan die during childbirth than anywhere else in the world.

There are factors that contribute to this dire situation. Not all communities have a local midwife who can assist in the delivery of a baby. Quality health care providers, especially women, are often limited and, health clinics are scarce in more remote areas.

Improving access to health care has remained a priority for the Government of Afghanistan. With Canada’s support, there is progress.
