Afghanistan360°
Since its launch in June 2009, Afghanistan360°, the Government of Canada’s multimedia exhibit, has toured east, west and north, making stops in Vancouver, Whistler, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Quebec City, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Iqaluit, Halifax, South Shore and Charlottetown.
Afghanistan360° tells the story of Canada’s engagement in Afghanistan. Through photos and text, podcasts and videos, visitors can learn about Canada’s role in helping the Government of Afghanistan reshape their country. The exhibit portrays Canada’s six priorities and three signature projects with examples of work that is taking place in the field such as building schools, training teachers, vaccinating children against polio, and repairing Kandahar Province’s Dahla dam to create better access to water for irrigation.
Visitors can learn about training Afghan National Security Forces, assisting the Government of Afghanistan in providing basic services to its population, providing life-saving humanitarian assistance, enhancing border security, facilitating political reconciliation, and helping the Afghan government to increase the capacity for democratic governance and national institutions.
Looking forward to the fall tour, Afghanistan360° has scheduled stops in Pickering, Ontario, for the Royal Canadian Legion week, in New Liskeard, Ontario, for the International Plowing Match, in Esquimalt, British Columbia, to talk to local communities, in St. Albert, Alberta, to engage the local community, and back in Waterloo, Ontario, at the Canadian for International Governance Innovation in conjunction with formal and informal discussions around Canada’s efforts in Afghanistan.
