On July 22nd, Canada’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, William Crosbie, together with Faheem Dashty, Director of AINA Photo Agency launched the national version of the photo exhibit, Through the Eyes of Afghan Youth at Babur Gardens in Kabul.
The month-long exhibit is a collection of photographs taken by 32 young women and men who took to the streets of Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad in the winter and spring of 2010 to document the lives of Afghans—their hardships and their joys—as part of a photography course offered through AINA Photo Agency and supported by the Embassy of Canada in Afghanistan.
“Some of these photos remind us of the insecurity that continues to plague this country while others provide us with a glimpse into the future of a happier and more prosperous Afghanistan,” said Canada’s Ambassador to Afghanistan William Crosbie during the launch of the exhibit. “This is your opportunity to take this gift you have learned and use it to influence positive action for change. I encourage every one of the photographers featured in this exhibit to continue to tell the story of Afghans, to the people of Afghanistan and to the world.”
The Through the Eyes of Afghan Youth photo exhibit is on display in Kabul until August 14th. A photo book showcasing the best work from the three-month-long nation-wide photography course was also produced.
