Afghanistan Task Force at the CANSEC exhibition, June 2-3, Ottawa
DFAIT and CIDA Afghanistan Task Force officers participated at the CANSEC trade show which took place at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa on June 2 and 3. Over 200 exhibitors attended this event including representation from other Government departments.
CANSEC is Canada's foremost defence and security technology showcase. A two-day event, CANSEC featured product presentations and capability displayed by Canada's leading edge defence and security companies. This showcase targeted a wide audience of stakeholders that included Government agencies and departments with an interest in security, public safety, risk mitigation, threat response and emergency planning. Over 7,000 visitors attended this trade show.
Event such as this one present an excellent opportunity to highlight and showcase the whole-of-government efforts regarding the civilian aspect of Canada’s engagement in Afghanistan to audiences that may only be aware of the military component.
